Please carefully follow the instructions in your kit for the most accurate result.. The QuickVue At-Home OTC COVID-18 Test utilizes technology used by healthcare professionals to provide an accessible, simple, and easy-to-use COVID-19 test. This home test is authorized with self-collected direct anterior nasal (NS) swab specimens. This test uses a gentle self-collected swag sample to determine a positive or negative COVID-19 result. The swab is swirled in a tube of reagent solution, then removed, before a test strip is inserted. After 10 minutes, you can take the strip out of the tube and see your results. Instructions:
Note that these instructions are as originally published. Always carefully follow the instructions you receive in your box, as these are subject to change.
- Hold the swab halfway up the handle, and gently insert the swab approximately ½ an inch into the nostril.
- Rub the swab and swirl around the inside wall of each nostril a minimum of 4 times. Spend about 15 seconds collecting the sample. Use the same swab for both nostrils.
- Once collected, immediately place the swab into the pre-filled tube and be sure the swab is touching the bottom of the tube. Swirl swab 3 or 4 times.
- After swirling, leave in the tube for at least one minute. DO NOT remove the swab until it has been in the tube for at least one minute.
- After one minute, remove carefully from the tube. While removing, rub the swab head against the wall of the tube to squeeze out as much liquid as possible without touching the swab head to your skin at all. Discard the swab into the garbage.
- Open the strip pouch and tear at the tear mark. Remove the test strip by only touching the top of the strip.
- Place the test strip into the open pre-filled tube with the arrows pointing down. Leave the strip in the tube for 10 minutes. Use a timer to be sure you are leaving the strip in for 10 minutes. Do not move the strip until the 10 minutes is up.
- After 10 minutes, remove the test strip from the pre-filled tube and place it on a well-lit flat surface.
- Read within 5 minutes of removing the Test Strip for accurate results. Wash hands immediately.

- This test is intended only for direct anterior nares swab specimens. Use of another specimen will give unreliable results.
- Failure to follow the Performing the Test and Interpretation of Results may affect test performance and/or invalidate results.
