Application
Prepare the skin: With the patient's leg fully extended, clean the application site on the upper front of the thigh with alcohol or soap and water. Make sure the area is completely dry before proceeding.
Position the base: Peel the protective liner from the adhesive backing of the Cath-Secure device. Place the adhesive base on the clean, dry skin, leaving about one inch of slack between the securement site and the catheter insertion point.
Secure the tubing: Wrap the securing tab under the catheter tubing and beyond the lumen where the drainage bag connects. Secure the hook-and-loop tab to the base to hold the catheter in place.
Ensure stability: When removing the tab, hold down the base of the device to prevent it from pulling up.
Removal
Release the tab: Unhook and release the Velcro tab to free the catheter tubing.
Remove the adhesive: Use warm, soapy water or alcohol around the base of the adhesive to help dissolve the bond.
Peel gently: Slowly and gently peel the device off the skin.
