Our Story

“Family is at the heart of what we do”

CEO Bianca and COO Jonathan pictured standing with grandmother and family dog.

Our story began in 2015, when our co-founder and CEO Bianca helped her mom care for her grandmother.

Bianca was shocked there was no “What to Expect” guide like there is for new parents, so she and her husband/co-founder Jonathan dedicated their lives to creating a solution for family caregivers just like you.

About AeroChamber Plus Z Stat Anti-Static Valved Holding Chamber with Mask

Monaghan AeroChamber Plus Z Stat Anti-static Holding Chamber with built in comfort mask are specifically designed for easy use. Clinically tested and hospital-trusted for over 35 years, these AeroChambers are a helpful respiratory therapy treatment option designed to work with Metered Dose Inhalers for easier inhalation and consistent medication delivery. This AeroChamber Plus® Z, also known as a “spacer’, features a proprietary valve designed to respond to individuals with breathing patterns that are low volume or shallow, making inhalation of the aerosol medicine from a metered-dose inhaler easier by increasing the suspension time of aerosol delivery. This gives more time for the medication to work and allows for quicker medication delivery to the lungs. The anti-static polymer finish on the chamber helps minimize the build-up of static electricity in plastic materials and prevents the medication from sticking to the sides of the chamber. This reduces medication loss and therefore promotes drug dispersal evenly for correct dosage intake and consistent medication delivery. Plus, the AeroChamber features a built-in FLOWSIGnal® Whistle which alerts the user when the breathing is too fast. When that happens, just slow the breath down and try again. For those with shallow breathing patterns, the low resistant valve increases aerosol suspension time for easier inhalation and consistent medicine dosage delivery. Regarding exhalation, this AeroChamber has an EZ FLOW Exhalation Valve which helps to minimize re-breathing and to direct exhaled flow away from the user’s face. Altogether, these designs help reduce user errors in medication dosage. When used correctly, AeroChampbers works as well as a nebulizer treatment. Recommended by leading MDI manufacturers, the universal backpiece is compatible with most Metered Dose Inhalers, (MDIs). Easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher, these spacers are re-usable for up to 12 months, which makes a great cost-effective feature. Designed and manufactured in the US, with the exception of some silicone components, Monaghan AeroChamber Plus Z Stat Anti-Static Holding Chamber with Masks come in the following sizes:

  • Small size Mask fits ages 0-18 months. The facemask is anatomically shaped and contours to the face. Specifically designed for children.
  • Medium size Mask fits ages 1-5 yrs. As a slightly larger mask, as the child grows, it will provide a proper seal. Specifically designed for children.
  • Adult size Large mask fits those with large facial features. Ideal for people who prefer secure fit of a mask or find using a mouthpiece difficult.

Who Should Use These

Small children with respiratory conditions who:

  • Are unable to both inhale medication and hold the breath
  • Have difficulty using a mouthpiece
  • Are not comfortable with a nebulizer

Also ideal for adults who struggle with the “press and breathe” technique of an inhaler and individuals with the following respiratory conditions who prefer secure fit of a mask or find using a mouthpiece difficult.

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Asthma
  • Seasonal Allergies

Helpful Tip: For children who use AeroChambers, have your pediatrician write a prescripton for a spacer to have at home and at school. Customers find the Aerochambers to not only fit well with their inhalers, but they are easy to use and clean. Not only are these spacers helpful for getting the full dose of medicine, but they also provide a quick and easy way to get medication into the lungs for fast relief. An alternative to nebulizers, when used correctly this Respiratory Therapy is just as effective.

How Do You Use This Product

As always, it is important to follow any instructions from your physician.

  • Remove caps from the end of the inhaler (MDI) as well as from the end of the AeroChamber (spacer).
  • Insert the inhaler mouthpiece into the rubber ring opening in the back end of the spacer.
  • Hold the inhaler and AeroChamber tightly and shake vigorously 3 or 4 times.
  • Slowly breathe out. Place the mask over your nose and mouth to provide a seal.
  • Press down on the inhaler and inhale a slow, deep breath and hold for 10 seconds. If holding your breath is difficult, take slower breaths.
  • If you hear whistling sounds, it means your inhale was too fast. Try the breath again-- this time, slower.
  • Repeat steps 3 through 5 as prescribed by your physician. It’s good practice to wait about 1 minute between puffs. Always shake the inhaler before each use.
  • Replace inhaler and spacer caps when done.
  • Swish some water in your mouth and spit it out to prevent Thrush.
  • Clean chamber weekly.
