Nutricia TYR Anamix® Early Years is a tyrosine- and phenylalanine-free powdered infant formula with iron specifically designed for the dietary management of proven tyrosinemia in infants from birth to 12 months, and as a supplementary feed up to 3 years of age. Tyrosinemia is a rare inherited metabolic disorder in which the body is unable to properly break down the amino acid tyrosine, leading to a buildup of toxic metabolites that can cause serious damage to the liver, kidneys, and nervous system if left untreated. Because phenylalanine is a direct precursor to tyrosine in the body, both amino acids must be restricted in the dietary management of tyrosinemia. TYR Anamix Early Years provides a carefully balanced blend of all other essential and non-essential amino acids — excluding tyrosine and phenylalanine — along with carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements to meet the complete nutritional needs of affected infants. It is not suitable as a sole source of nutrition and is not appropriate for infants without a confirmed diagnosis.
How Do You Use or Apply This Product?
- Wash hands thoroughly and clean the preparation area before preparing formula.
- To make a standard dilution (21 kcal per fluid ounce), add 1 unpacked level scoop (5g) of powder to each fluid ounce of cooled, boiled water. Use only the scoop provided. For more accuracy, use a gram scale.
- Pour the required amount of cooled, boiled water into a sterilized feeding bottle, then add the prescribed number of leveled scoops of formula. Place the cap on the bottle and shake until the powder dissolves. Shake immediately before use.
- TYR Anamix Early Years may be mixed with warm or cool water that has been boiled. Do not boil formula or use a microwave to prepare or warm formula.
- Freshly prepared formula is best. Formula prepared in advance must be cooled rapidly, stored in the refrigerator, and used within 24 hours. Discard any formula remaining in the bottle after 1 hour of feeding.
- Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures. Once opened, use contents within 2 weeks and replace the lid firmly after each use.
