Convatec Stomahesive Ostomy Barrier Paste is a Pectin-base, light tan colored paste that acts as a protective skin barrier. The paste facilitates a seal that helps prevent the stoma output from getting under the skin barrier and making contact with the patient’s skin. Use to fill in gaps, scars, or uneven skin surfaces around the stoma to form a more attachable wafer (barrier) to help protect the skin and increase ostomy system wear-time and prevent leakage. Apply to either a skin barrier or to the skin directly.

For individuals with a stoma bag who want a seal between stoma, skin barrier, and skin to prevent leakage from the stoma.
How do you use this product?
To apply to a skin wafer or barrier:
- Prepare the skin barrier according to accompanying instructions.
- Apply a thin bead of paste around the adhesive side opening. Note: Do not spread the paste and do not apply to the outer rim of skin barrier.
- Center skin barrier over stoma and gently press down over entire barrier to create a firm seal. The pressure distributes the paste under the barrier, causing it to rise around the stoma and therefore create an additional seal.
To apply directly to skin:
- Prepare the skin according to accompanying instructions.
- Apply paste directly to the skin that immediately surrounds the stoma to protect the area. Make sure it is enough to cover all exposed skin between the barrier and stoma.
To create a level pouching surface:
- Apply paste directly to the skin where folds, uneven surfaces or scars are present. If you need to move or manipulate the paste, first wet your finger -- this allows for the paste to move and prevents it from sticking to fingers.
- Center skin barrier over stoma and gently press down over entire barrier to create a firm seal. The pressure distributes the paste under the barrier, causing it to rise around the stoma and therefore create an additional seal.
Note:
- Paste spreads easily; do not use in excess
- Avoid contact with eyes. Use in a well-ventilated area.
