What sort of vitamins should I take?
In general, the type of vitamins you need can vary greatly depending on if you’re a man or woman, your typical diet, your lifestyle, and lots more. There are 13 vitamins: Vitamin A, C, D, E, K, along with B vitamins which include thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyroxidine (B6), biotin (B7), folate (B9), and cobalamin (B12). While all of these vitamins are important for your health, your diet may be accounting for some of them, so talk to your doctor about what your needs might be. If you’re just looking for overall health improvement, you should try a multivitamin. These come in gender-specific varieties.
For older adults specifically, the FDA recommends larger doses of Vitamin D and Vitamin B-12, so make sure you’re getting plenty of each!
Why do I need vitamins?
Vitamins are what enables your body to work properly, and each one has a different purpose. They’re responsible for protecting your immunity, nerve health, energy, blood clotting, and so much more. Many people are not getting the amount of vitamins they need from food alone, so a great alternative is to try vitamins and supplements.
